Senior Lecturer in English Language for Communications Engineers


I started working  for Brunel University and the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering in February 2019. I specialise in English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) in Transnational Education (TNE). Normally in regular academic semesters I am based in Chongqing at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT). The focus of my work is a gradual and progressive ESAP curriculum design of relevant modules to support Chinese students enrolled on a four-year dual degree between BUL and CQUPT  (Telecoms Engineering). I am also involved in teaching on these modules, and leading them. Prior to this post I was the Director of the Centre for Academic English Studies (CAES) at the Surrey International Institute (SII) which is a joint Sino-British Alliance between Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) and the University of Surrey. I have been involved in EAP, ESP, applied linguistics and academic literacies since 1993. I am also an experienced teacher trainer and trainer trainer.
