Research area(s)

My research addresses issues within the theme of “resilient infrastructures”, especially the role of investigation, protection, maintenance and rehabilitation towards extending the life of pavement, bridges and heritage structures. I am interested in the development of scientific understanding and its practical application in these target areas. This includes, for example, asphalt material characterisation, hydroponic material for the protection of porous material, and technology driven investigation and development exploiting emerging technologies. I subscribe to ‘education-for-all’, especially overcoming key barriers in this and developing and promoting opportunities for and with UK industry partners.
