Uncovering The Brain Biomarkers Of Impaired Balance Recovery In Children With Developmental Coordination Disorder (dyspraxia): A Feasibility Study

Funder: The Waterloo Foundation
Duration: October 2025 - September 2026

Feasibility study funded by the Waterloo Foundation investigating whether cortical N1 responses to balance perturbations can explain impaired balance recovery and frequent falls in children with Developmental Coordination Disorder. Fifty two children with and without DCD complete reactive balance tasks on an instrumented treadmill with EEG, EMG and dual task conditions, followed by a three month falls diary. A patient and public involvement group has co developed the protocol and supports recruitment, task acceptability and dissemination. Project led by Dr Johnny Parr (MMU); Contribution as uncosted Co-I
