Rebecca is a part-time doctoral researcher under the supervision of Dr Gerard Conway and Dr Adrienne Barnett, and her research is concerned with a socio-legal analysis of assisted dying. Her PhD thesis, provisionally titled “A Socio-Legal Analysis of Assisted Dying: A Comparative Analysis and Empirical Evaluation of the Laws, Policies and Practices in Oregon and the Netherlands and their Workability or Legitimacy in England and Wales”, undertakes an empirical evaluation and comparative analysis of the views of the healthcare professionals instrumental to the application of the law and their respective institutions, and the impact and sustainability of a hybrid model on the English healthcare system respectively.
Rebecca holds a first class honours award for BSc (Hons) Podiatric Medicine (2012), a distinction award for MSc Diabetes (2015), and a commendation for the Graduate Diploma in Law (2017). Professionally, Rebecca has practised as a Podiatrist in both the National Health Service and the private sector. Since embarking on her PhD journey, Rebecca has participated in Brunel University's Annual Doctoral Research Poster Conference twice, and has won awards for her submissions on both occasions.
