Sheida Afshan is a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Brunel University London, and a member of the Institute of Materials and Manufacturing. She is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Her principal research interests are structural testing, numerical modelling and the development of design guidance for steel structures. She is a member of the European Committee responsible for Eurocode 3 – Part 1.4 (CEN/TC250/SC3 WG4 Evolution of EN 1993-1-4 - Stainless steel).
