Sheng Dai received his Bachelor degree from Zhejiang University, and Masters and PhD degrees from Nanyang Technological University. After that, he worked as a postdoc research fellow at McMaster University, University of Alberta and University of Toronto under the support of NSERC (Canada) and NIH (USA). He joined the University of Adelaide (Australia) as a Senior Lecturer in 2009 and was promoted to an Associate Professor in late 2012. In early 2017, he moved to UK as a Professor of Chemical Engineering and the Deputy Head of School of Engineering at Newcastle University. He worked at Brunel University London as the Inaugural Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering from late 2018. Later, Sheng moved to the University of Leeds as the Head of Chemical and Process Engineering in January 2022 and became a Visting Professor at Brunel, Sheng’s research expertise is to develop cutting-edge applications of polymers, nanomaterials and interfacial technology in healthcare, separation processes, catalysts, water treatment and clean energy. He has published 150 peer-review journal articles associated with over 11,500 citations and an H-index of 49.
