While you are with us you’ll complete over 1,000 hours of clinical experience. Clinical education happens in six-week blocks which gives you time to find your feet, learning as you go, and offers plenty of opportunity to consolidate your learning.
Our well-established courses have great links with some of the most highly regarded London placement partners as well as a large number of general hospitals including:
This map displays the different hospitals and clinics where our students can go on placement.
While you are on placement you will be supervised by physiotherapists registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and will be assessed by their supervising clinicians. The assessment score from clinical placement modules contributes to your final degree classification, along with all your second and third year academic grades.
“I have spent six weeks in the Carvel Rehabilitation Unit (elderly patients unit) at the Whittington Hospital as my first clinical placement. It was such an amazing experience working with the therapy team and the placement gave me a great opportunity to transfer and apply the knowledge I have learnt. After this placement, I realised that patience and simplification of language are critical to effective communication with the elderly.” Ho-Laam, Li (Joshua) (Physiotherapy BSc)
“I’m currently on my second to last placement at St Thomas’ Hospital which I feel very privileged to have been given! I’m working with musculoskeletal outpatients and I am in the hydro team so I get to do at least three hours in the pool a day with a huge variety of patients. Completing the musculoskeletal module at Brunel and reading around different pathologies has enabled me to develop invaluable assessment and treatment skills.” Rebecca Gould (Physiotherapy BSc)
