Dr Alireza Alghassi is a power electronics expert specialising in developing real time prognostic health management for power conversion components and systems. He obtained a BEng in Systems and Control Engineering from Sheffield University where he developed predictive algorithms for self-organised critical systems with variable thresholds, and an MSc in Power Electronics and Drives from the Power Electronics Group in Nottingham University which led to developing a control LED array for a sponsored project on sustainable urban agriculture in innovative vertical farming.

 He began his PhD at Cranfield as a researcher in 2012 developing self-aware power electronics in harsh environment applications through research delivery for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

 Alireza joined BIC in September 2016 as Research Fellow and he is currently working on the European project H2020, condition monitoring of wind turbine drive-train via non-contact acoustic sensors.
