National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme (MedTEP)
This programme identifies, evaluates and encourages adoption of new or novel medical devices and diagnostic technologies with potential to improve the experience and outcomes of patients in the NHS and/or to drive efficiencies in the use of health service resources. There are four external assessment centres of which the University of Birmingham/Brunel University Collaboration are one. The work entails critically appraising submissions from industry, writing short reports on novel devices or diagnostic tests and potentially collaboration on other projects such as systematic reviews. Outputs are for the benefit of the decision-making committee at NICE.
