An institutional history of internal communication in the UK

This ESRC funded research straddles the Management and Organizational History and Organization Studies and will combine archival-based historical research with institutional theory and rhetorical history.

The project involves nine partners who will play a major role in data collection and analysis, and dissemination and impact. These are Unilever, Boots, John Lewis, the Post Office Museum, AB Communications, The Institute of Internal Communication, The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, The Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and the British Library.

The project will produce major academic and non-academic outputs including an open-source archive on internal communication on Brunel Figshare which will be open to scholars, professionals, students and the general public.
