Award details

The Water Conservators Environmental Sciences Bursary is awarded by The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators, a Livery Company of the City of London. The company has a particular interest in issues related to water and the environment. It is anticipated that for the 2022-23 academic year that the Division of Environmental Sciences will award a single bursary of £2,000 towards the tuition fees of the successful candidate.

Students wishing to apply for the bursary should, in addition to having a formal offer from Brunel University London to undertake an Environmental Sciences Division MSc or MRes programme, prepare a 500-word essay or report that clearly indicates their interest in environmental issues related to water and their future career plans in a related field.

The successful candidate will be notified by Monday 20 June 2022.

Eligibility

The criteria for selection of the successful candidate are:

  1. Applicants must be entitled to permanently live and work in the UK.
  2. No application for the bursary will be considered unless the candidate has a formal offer from Brunel University London on one of the following programmes:
    • MSc Environmental Management
    • MSc Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design
    • MRes Environmental Sciences, and
    • MRes Environmental Management.
  3. The applicant should demonstrate:
    • An interest in, and understanding of, issues related to water and the environment, which may be demonstrated through previous studies, membership or organisations or voluntary groups.
    • An ability to communicate critically and effectively, at an appropriate academic level. This should include references to the literature where appropriate.
    • We may request that shortlisted candidates be interviewed to discuss their application.
