Which country do you currently live in?
Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?
After graduating from Brunel, I have started my career journey at GE Aviation as a Legal and Contracts Intern. Furthermore, I have decided to start a preparation course for SQE1 and aim to take the exam in July 2022. The work I am currently doing at GE Aviation will count towards QWE, so hopefully by next summer I will be halfway through obtaining solicitor qualifications via the SQE route.
What does a typical day at work involve for you?
My main duties include reviewing contracts and documents, managing NDAs, leasing with clients and attending meetings. No two days are the same at GE and my workload depends on current business plans, but that is what makes this position exciting!
What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?
After just three months into the role I have been trusted to independently negotiate with a client to sign an NDA. On top of that, I got a chance to run the whole process in my native language which helped with explaining the matter to the client.
How would you say your Brunel experience has helped you to get where you are today?
I have attended different workshops that helped me develop transferable and interpersonal skills. Activities organised as part of Legal Week especially helped me in developing my career, as this is where I met my current employer.
Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I chose Brunel because it had a strong international community and put great focus on professional development. I moved from Poland to start my university studies and being on campus helped me meet great people who I am grateful to call my friends. Brunel offers both personal and professional development.
What is your best memory of studying here?
Meeting my friends that became my family away from home.
If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?
Be consistent, go to that extra workshop amd make time to study but remember, life is not all about this - make some memories and enjoy it!
What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?
Focus on your end goal, make a plan, and remember, you don't have to get there immediately but with hard work you will get there eventually! It is all about consistency and resilience.
