This project aims to encourage beekeeping in urban environments by creating a modern, modular hive that will helpt the UK honey bee population to rise
This project focuses on making beekeeping more accessible to people living in urban environments, thereby helping the UK honey bee population to thrive. It aims to tackle the current mentality of thoughts that beekeeping can only be achieved in rural environments when, in fact, recent research has shown that this is not the case.
This fully developed system is a wall-mounted modular beehive that will house a colony of honey bees. The design is a modern, compact alternative to traditional beehives that incorporates easy-to-open compartments to aid hive maintenance. Additionally, it includes a viewing side so that the user can feel more connected to their colony. The system also includes a wild flower wall to help bees find nectar and pollen.
