How we will deliver your course in 2021: English (undergraduate)

Our course content remains as advertised (other than some minor changes to reading lists), with a range of exciting and innovative modules across the programme. We are hopeful that our ‘student experience’ events, such as film showings and theatre trips, will take place in-person, but if this is not possible, they may be held online.

Our course content remains largely as advertised, with a range of exciting and innovative modules across the programme.

We have made some minor changes to our second and third year provision, with a small number of modules rested at level three (The Muslim World in Early Modern Literature, Postwar and Late Twentieth Century Writing), and an exciting new module on offer at level two (Contemporary Fictions of Global Inequality). We are hopeful that our ‘student experience’ events, such as film showings and theatre trips, will take place in-person, but if this is not possible, they may be held online.

We intend that most modules will take place in-person, but with some online materials and classes. We anticipate that each student will attend approximately 3 classes per week delivered in-person, as well as other in-person workshops and events. This may be subject to change in light of any new or ongoing restrictions. Online provision may include ‘live’ teaching as well as a range of other online materials. We will be using a variety of platforms (primarily Zoom and Blackboard Learn), and a wide range of formats. There will be plenty of technical support available to students.

On campus, if and when it is necessary, we will operate with social distancing measures in place. Our assessments remain largely unchanged, with a wide variety on offer, including essays, presentations, seminar participation, and blog posts. We are confident that we can deliver an exciting and innovative programme both online and in-person.
