You are excited about your first few months at Brunel, but you may be missing food from home, or perhaps you might just want to try something new! This thread is a compilation of top restaurants in and around Uxbridge that cater to those who eat Halal foods. For those who do not know, Halal means permissible, halal foods coincide with Islamic Law and the Qur’an based on how they are prepared. So, with a lot of help from second year students Imaan and Anjali here are the top ten...

1)  Dawat Art of Cooking 

HMC certified Halal Pakistani, Indian, Punjabi and vegetarian foods located in Southall. You have the option to order food from them off Just-Eat; they serve Tandoori, Mughal and Bengali dishes. On average, people spend around maximum £30.

2)  Chandni Chowk Restaurant and Sweets

 Indian food, casual dining atmosphere, prices are very good as nothing goes above £12 on the menu. They serve a range of naan bread, chaat, curries and paratha.

3)  Sweet Corn stalls – Magic Corn

 These stalls sell cups of sweet corn with different toppings and flavours you can choose to add. Magic corn is freshly steam cooked sweet corn served in a cup with a spoon, you get a choice a variety of unique flavours such as Mexican chilli, Cheese, Sour cream & Onion, Jalapeno, BBQ , Curry etc. Magic corn was first opened in Malaysia  in 1988 These stalls have no address as they are mobile and located generally in Southall. 4)  Saravanaa Bhavan

Vegetarian, Southern Indian cuisine known for their big portions and sweet desserts. The restaurant has been commended on their friendly staff and resonable prices.

5) Sarasas

Southern Indian food found in prime location in the centre of Uxbridge Road. There are vegetarian options, North Indian Indochinese and Srilankan dishes. This restaurant claims to strictly use rapeseed oil for cooking which contains less cholesterol. Sarasas has Dosa Specialists prepare twenty varieties of Dosas. The most expensive food on the menu is £15!

7)  Mirch Masala

Amazing Indian, Pakistani and vegetarian cuisine located in Southall. Brunel student Imaan recommends their nehari! You have the option to download their app for deliveries if you chose not to sit in.

8) Rita’s

Specialises in Indian and Afghani dishes, also Chinese. They have Wi-Fi and the option for a takeaway, they do not sell alcohol. Cash and cards are accepted.

9) Dirty Panda

Great spot for healthy Vietnamese and Nepalese street food try out there new, revamped menu since May 2018 and popular bubble tea.  It is located in Uxbridge inside the Arcade – go and watch the Uxbridge tour vlog to see where it is! They host games nights and karaoke, and you can order on Deliveroo.

10)   Red Iron Burgers

One of the best burger joints in Uxbridge. American-style fast food joint serving loaded gourmet burgers, BBQ briskets and Buffalo wings. They make their sauces from scratch and offer vegetarian options.
