Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?

My NQT year was across the road at Uxbridge High School. I have since been working in Doha, Qatar for the past seven years.

What does a typical day at work involve for you?

Teaching Physical Education (PE) lessons to students from 7 to 16 years old.

What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?

Teaching students from a range of cultures and backgrounds and leading events such as Sports Days and trips such as skiing in Italy.

How would you say your Brunel experience has helped you to get where you are today?

It provided me with the resources and knowledge to teach PE lessons to differentiate for a range of students. The work experience during my studies also allowed me to see a range of schools and cultures.

Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?

It has great sport facilities and the Physical Education PGCE team are one of the best that exist!

What is your best memory of studying here?

Our trip to Cornwall near the end of the course. It was a great way to consolidate the lessons we had over the past year and to bond with other colleagues.

If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?

Keep learning! Use the resources and staff available to make sure you get the most from your time there while you can. Keep relationships with the staff as you never know when they may come in handy in the future.

What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?

Learn more about finances. It's so important to get your finances under check in "the real world" and only you can find out more about them. Reading interesting books on the subject helped me set up additional income streams such as my websites stronghomegym.com and maketimeonline.com. You can also learn a lot more about this in the article, Making Sense of Cents.
