Tell us about your career journey since you graduated…

After completing my MBA I joined a manufacturing firm and worked as Senior Operation and Supply Chain Manager. I am currently working as Domain consultant in Auto Manufacturing sector for one of the most reputed companies in India: Infosys. Here I look after client requirements and provide solutions to clients. I also work as a Business Analyst.

What does an average day at work involve for you?

I get to work for around 9.00am and read my emails first; these are usually from our member organisations asking for more information on projects or arranging meetings. I attend client meetings to know more about projects or liaise with colleagues with tasks to do. I also check my to-do list to make sure I know what tasks need to be completed that day! I finish work around 5.30pm, and get home around 6.30pm, just in time for a swim session.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

There have been many highlights. I have worked as a Consultant and Operation Manager in the Energy and Manufacturing sector in the UK & India and have over 8.5 years of work experience. Currently I am working as a Domain Consultant (Manufacturing) at Infosys Consulting. My previous experience includes working as a Senior Operation & SCM at Evolution Industries India pvt Ltd, managing all supply chain activities, starting from procurement to manufacturing and its supplies to clients. I am also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and a Prince2 Practitioner. I am also a member of various technical organisations.

How would you say Brunel helped you to get where you are today?

Brunel enhanced my managerial skills and gave me international exposure and experience of living in a different culture. It also taught me how to be a good expatriate. Studying abroad at a reputed University is a win-win situation in India. Accredited MBA courses and business schools seek to prepare students for senior management roles in business; they do this by exposing you to all areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing, and human resources.

Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?

One of the reasons I chose to study at Brunel is that it is one of the good institutes in London and is connected with major tech hubs. Its MBA course is a good mix of both classroom and industrial exposure. I would fully recommend this programme to others for the same reasons.

What is your best memory of studying here?

My best memory is from during my MBA exams; I had 4 papers and I achieved an 'A' grade in all exams. I was living in surroundings that were like a home away from home - it gave me a sense of self dependence and allowed me to be more focused and more practical in life.

If you could give one piece of advice to new students, what would that be?

Be focused; don't be tense. Enjoy life and study also. Utilise your time to the fullest. The world is quickly transforming into a crazy place and you are about to step out into that world which is undoubtedly filled with opportunities, so make use of your time in the best possible way.

What would be your top tip or advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey?

Never try to copy things; be original. Always try to learn from practical things so that it will help you to apply the same skills in the business world. Try to be focused. Ask questions; don't be shy.
