Common engineering first year to build a strong foundation
At Brunel, every engineering student across all five disciplines (Aerospace; Chemical; Civil; Electronic and Electrical; and Mechanical and Automotive Engineering) follow the same first year. So, you’ll learn the fundamentals of each subject before continuing with your chosen specialism for the next two years. This gives you an unusually broadbased understanding of engineering principle.
Brilliant industry-level facilities
You'll have access to our aerospace teaching laboratories, including wind tunnels for individual and group projects. You’ll be taught in our well-equipped computing labs with up-to-date software including AA, Catia, Matlab and CAD. You can also take advantage of having access to the other engineering facilities, whether you're working on hydrocycles in mechanical or electronic components when working on robots. Additionally, Brunel is the closest university to London’s Heathrow Airport, giving ample opportunities for site visits, placement and career options.
Strong industry connections to find your placement
You’ll have the option to go on a placement, which will give you great exposure to the different disciplines within aerospace engineering such as data analysis, thermofluids and technical drawings. Our academics and career advisers will help you through the application process to find the perfect opportunity, and will be there for you during your placement in case you need any support.
Career support
You’ll graduate with a range of skills relevant to demanding careers in the aerospace, aeronautical and related industries. Our career advisers are available from the first day of your studies to assist with part-time jobs, placements, internships, volunteering roles, or even starting your own business. For those seeking further education, Brunel offers a master's course in aerospace engineering.
Brunel Engineers
You'll have the opportunity to showcase your final year projects at our annual Brunel Engineers exhibition, where a number of world-leading companies are invited to view your projects, judge and award prizes. This is also an excellent way to network with industry professionals.
Get ready with a foundation year
If you feel you're not ready yet for degree-level study or you don't have all the qualifications needed, we offer two foundation year options: Engineering with an Integrated Foundation Year and Undergraduate Pathway in Engineering.
