Free Training on Advanced Metallic Materials in Aerospace and Defence Sectors

AILEEN
As part of the AILEEN project (www.aileencove.eu), an Erasmus+ programme Brunel is partnered with, we’re launching a FREE five-day course on “Advanced Metallic Materials in Aerospace and Defence Sectors”.

Participants can take quick assessment questions at the end of their training to obtain an EWF certificate. Feedback on our trainings will also be invaluable. This is an EQF Level 6 course designed for manufacturing, production, and materials engineers who wish to deepen their expertise in the key metallic materials used across aerospace and defence applications.

The course provides advanced knowledge of aluminium, titanium, and nickel alloys, with a focus on their classification, weldability, behaviour under different conditions, and suitability for high‑performance welded structures. Learners are to gain critical understanding of advanced welding processes, filler materials, shielding and backing gases, and strategies for addressing material‑specific challenges such as oxide layer management, contamination control, and hot‑cracking prevention.

Participants are to develop the skills to evaluate materials based on their properties and application requirements, select appropriate alloys for specialised manufacturing environments, and ensure compliance with stringent aerospace and defence performance standards. The trainings will take place on campus at the Michael Sterling Building (room to be shared upon registration). The trainings are designed to support upskilling for engineers in materials and welding processes.
