Creative Writing Workshop: Children’s Fiction
So You Want to Write for Children? Award-winning author, Patrice Lawrence encourages you to lean in. In this workshop, Patrice will cover the basics of writing fiction for children and young people. This will include:
· An overview of the context of children's publishing
· Developing relatable characters
· Idea generation
· Devising a simple plot structure
There will also be time for Patrice to answer your questions.
About Patrice Lawrence
Patrice Lawrence was shortlisted for the Nero Book Awards Children’s Fiction Prize in 2015 for her novel, People Like Stars. Patrice is an award-winning author of books for children of all ages, from picture books to books for young adults. She has judged numerous book awards including the Costa, Nero and Jhalak Children's Book Awards, the Little Rebels Book Award and the Queen's Knickers Illustrated Book Award. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and has been awarded an MBE for services to literature.
