British Council awards Brunel graduate for outstanding international achievements

Brunel University London alumnus Dr Talal Al-Maghrabi has been named winner in the Entrepreneurial Alumni category of the British Council UK Alumni Awards for Saudi Arabia.

The Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of international university graduates and showcase the impact and value of a UK higher education. Award winners and finalists are leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, professions and countries.

Former Brunel Business School doctoral student Dr Al-Maghrabi is the first Brunel alumnus to be awarded since the Alumni Awards were launched in 2015. He has retained close links with the University since completion of his thesis in 2010, his wife Dr Abeer BinAli also completed her PhD at Brunel, his daughter Tala Talal Almaghrabi is a final year student in Marketing at Brunel Business School, and his son Trad Talal Almaghrabi will join Brunel this year. Dr Al-Maghrabi also has two brothers who obtained degrees from Brunel Engineering School.

Dr Al-Maghrabi holds a PhD in Marketing and E-Commerce and a Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Brunel, an MBA in Marketing and Information System from Kent State University, USA, and a BSc in Aeronautics from Saint Louis University, USA.

He is chair of the Saudi-British Marketing and Management Association, founder of the UK Marketing and Communication Academy, director of the UK’s International Training and Development Academy, and a consultant and lecturer in marketing, e-commerce and management information systems.

Dr Al-Maghrabi’s current research interests include online shopping behaviour, retailing and e-retailing, customer satisfaction, loyalty programs, and corporate social responsibility, and he has successfully published and presented papers in Saudi Arabia and internationally. He is also the editor-in-chief for the International Journal of Management and Marketing Academy.
