Brunel climbs global QS rankings after strong year for research and graduate outcomes

Brunel University of London has climbed 32 places in the QS World University Rankings 2027, now ranked 353rd globally and 37th in the UK.

This maintains Brunel’s position within the UK’s top 40 and the world’s top 400 universities, with progress across key measures, including employment, research, global collaboration and graduate outcomes.

Research and global collaboration see the strongest gains, with Brunel rising 84 places for International Research Network and 83 places for Citations per Faculty, reflecting the growing reach and impact of its research.

Graduate outcomes also improved, with a rise of 33 places in Employment Outcomes. The University’s sustainability performance was also recognised, with Brunel moving up 18 places to rank among the world’s top 150 most sustainable universities. The latest results show the University gained across five of the nine QS indicators.

International outlook remains a key strength, with high scores for international students, international faculty and international research links.

Nationally, Brunel continues to perform strongly for the quality of the research produced, and ranks among the top 20 UK universities for citations and 11th and 12th for international staff and students.

Published by British marketing company Quacquarelli Symonds, the QS evaluates 8,808 institutions worldwide and publishes 1,504 universities across 106 locations. Of these, 31 climb, 38 drop and 20 remain stable within their rank or band. In the UK, 93 institutions are included in this year’s ranking. They’re widely seen as one of the leading global university league tables - one potential students, academics and employers overseas look to most.
