Brunel ranked among TIME World's Top Universities 2026

Brunel University of London has been recognised in TIME’s inaugural World’s Top Universities of 2026 ranking, which highlights universities where students are most likely to achieve significant success and make meaningful contributions to society. Brunel is ranked 9th globally for global engagement and placed within the top 250 universities worldwide overall.

Vice Chancellor and President of Brunel, Professor Andrew Jones, said: “We are delighted that, in its first global university league table, TIME has ranked Brunel University of London in the top 250 universities in the world.”

He added: “Alongside excellence in research and education, the ranking highlights where students achieve exceptional outcomes, from patenting new inventions to progressing into leadership roles in business and industry. These ambitions are at the core of Brunel’s mission, and as we enter our 60th year, we are committed to strengthening our impact even further.”

Brunel places a strong emphasis on work placements, ensuring students gain meaningful, real‑world experience alongside their studies. Through long‑established industry partnerships and a dedicated placements team, Brunel helps students secure high‑quality opportunities that build confidence, develop professional skills and enhance their career prospects. For example, students in Brunel’s Design School gain hands-on workshop experience that blends theory with practice through opportunities such as the Ford Design Factory.

The University’s strong performance in global engagement reflects its success in attracting a vibrant international community of students and staff. With students from more than 140 countries, Brunel’s diverse campus and global partnerships demonstrate the international reach of its education and research.

The analysis was structured around three key pillars: academic capacity & performance, innovation & economic impact, and global engagement.
