Brunel University London is now in the world's top 20 internationally focussed institutions, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings' 2023 league table, released today.

For the 'International Outlook' pillar of the rankings – which looks at each university's proportion of international academic staff and students, and how successfully its researchers collaborate with international colleagues – Brunel has risen three places to 20th globally, and one place to 4th in the UK.

The annual THE World University Rankings rate research-intensive universities from across the world across five pillars: International Outlook, Citations, Teaching, Research and Industry Income.

Overall, the university sits within the world's top 500 universities, and is 58th in the THE's Impact Rankings, which measure how well research institutions are progressing towards delivering on each of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Prof Trevor Hoey, Brunel's Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Sustainability, said: "With 150 of the world's countries represented at Brunel, we pride ourselves on being a diverse, international community in which to work, research and study.

"We continue to develop our very significant global reach through international networks of partners, colleagues and friends, providing opportunities to learn, collaborate and deliver impact."
