Santander Universities has renewed its partnership with Brunel University London for a further three years, providing continued financial support for students and graduates.

The partnership, now entering its seventh year, will support student mobility and entrepreneurship activities.

Prof Julia Buckingham CBE, Brunel University London’s Vice-Chancellor and President, and Matt Hutnell, Director of Santander Universities UK, held an online celebration event on 7 October to mark the renewal of the agreement.

As a result of this ongoing partnership, Brunel will continue to help its students to enrich their learning experiences and will further enable graduates to achieve their aspirations.

Funding will go towards helping Brunel students from a widening participation background to take part in life-changing experiences such as overseas opportunities, whilst students and graduates alike will have the opportunity to apply for equity-free seed funding to help advance their entrepreneurial ventures.

The University’s flagship ‘Venture Competition’, as well as the ‘Made in Brunel’ student enterprise showcase, will both also continue to benefit from this renewed relationship by way of competition prizes.

This renewed agreement is in addition to existing collaborations between Santander Universities and Brunel – such as the Brunel Bike scheme, which provides Santander Cycles to students, staff, alumni and members of the public, and was celebrated at a launch event in March 2019 attended by Uxbridge & South Ruislip MP Boris Johnson.

“Brunel University London is proud to have renewed our very successful partnership with Santander Universities,” said Prof Buckingham.

“During the seven years we have been working together, many Brunel students have benefited from Santander’s support, which has provided them with opportunities ranging from broadening their horizons through internships and overseas travel to honing their entrepreneurial skills and taking a business idea from conception to reality – a very big thank you from Brunel.”

Hutnell added: “Santander is committed to supporting higher education as well as local communities across the UK.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Brunel University London for a further three years and look forward to working together in providing even more opportunities which will benefit both students and the local community over the coming years.”
