Holocaust Memorial Day, observed on 27 January, extends beyond specific historical events, inviting us to reflect on the collective human experience.
It stands as a universal day for everyone to remember the millions of Jewish people and members of other minority groups murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution, and in the genocides that followed in recent history. This day underscores the importance of honouring the memories of those who faced genocide and persecution throughout history.
In commemorating this day, we acknowledge the resilience of individuals from various backgrounds who have endured profound suffering.
By recognising the rich tapestry of our global community at Brunel, we reaffirm our commitment to unity, understanding and the prevention of future atrocities.
Embracing diversity becomes a cornerstone in building a compassionate world where each person is valued, and the shared lessons of the past guide us toward a more harmonious future.
Brunel Student Union’s Jewish Society is holding a small commemoration in the Meeting House on campus from 1-3pm on Friday 26 January.
