Melete Social Impact Scholarships

Have you got a bold, sustainable business idea that tackles real-world challenges? Then the Melete Social Impact Scholarships are for you. Think Impact!

Brunel University of London is proud to partner with The Melete Foundation, a UK charity founded by Sir John Chisholm and Lady Kitty Chisholm, to launch an exciting new opportunity for student changemakers.

Entries for 2026 open 19 November 2025 and close 6 February 2026.

Whether your idea relates to your course (for example, your final-year project) or not, we want to hear about it and how it delivers real solutions, attracts customers, and creates genuine social impact.

From an app improving wellbeing or community connection, a healthcare service for underserved groups, a theatre or arts project driving social change, a sustainable fashion brand, a green transport design like an electric bike, an ethical online marketplace, an education or skills platform, to a community recycling initiative — we want to hear it!

Training is provided to both help you hone your business idea and to learn how to ‘pitch’ it. To explore workshops that we are running in conjunction with this year's competition, please click here.

Amongst the prize fund, there are many other benefits of entering the competition.

The Melete Social Impact Scholarships empower Brunel University of London students to create businesses that make a difference and develop their entrepreneurial skills with a chance to win £5k!
