Venture Crawl 2020

On Wednesday 11 March 2020, we once again travelled in an iconic red double decker bus visiting the best workplaces and innovation hubs that London has to offer! We heard from inspiring entrepreneurs and discovered London’s entrepreneurial eco-system all in one day!

More Brunel University London students attended this event than ever before – we were able to take 36 students around London providing an unmissable opportunity to develop key entrepreneurial skills. 15 London universities in total teamed up for the Venture Crawl 2020, with over 400 student entrepreneurs taking part and each university following a unique route through London to Plexal. The event was designed to give students the opportunity to connect to real-world businesses, be inspired by the UK’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, and gain networking skills.

Throughout the day, we visited Makerversity at Somerset House, heard from Brunel Alumni Emma Obanye and Andy Ayim at Capital Enterprise, followed by our final stop of the crawl, WeWork, where we heard from Brunel Alumnus and founder of Latest Free Stuff, Deepak Tailor and his co-founder Tom Church. In between stops, students took part in bus activities such as Ice breaker quizzes, social media competitions and much more.

After a day of hearing entrepreneurial insights and advice from top entrepreneurs, the Brunel University venture crawl team met with all London university teams at Plexal for the final event. At Plexal, our budding entrepreneurs were able to participate in networking games, designed to encourage all universities to build relationships. Brunel student Paris Reveira was part of the winning ‘Networking Champions 2020’ team. Attendees went on to hear top tips from entrepreneur Holly Tucker, founder of ‘Not on the Highstreet’, which was followed by an inter-university pitch-off with 400+ London University entrepreneurial students. Current student, Vidhi Desai represented Brunel University London with an excellent 90 second business pitch.
