Be Inspired: Brunel Entrepreneurs 2024

The Life of an Entrepreneur:  Hear from well-known industry experts at our panel discussion and network with our most recent outstanding entrepreneurs and freelancers at our Entrepreneur Hub Exhibition. 

On Thursday 18 January we held our annual showcase event here at the Entrepreneur Hub to celebrate all things entrepreneurship at Brunel University London.

Joined by over 100 attendees across the university, the event kick started with an energetic panel discussion on ‘The Life of an Entrepreneur’ featuring our carefully curated panellists contributing relevant insights from their unique experience and background, whilst also answering live questions from our audience.

The panel was facilitated by Andrew Mossop, founder of The Training Ground,start-up mentor & communications expert.

Meet our Panellists: 

→ Riam Kanso, Founder and CEO of Conception X

Dr Riam Kanso is the founder and CEO of Conception X, the UK's leading venture programme for PhD students who want to build deep technology startups. Riam has a PhD in Neuroscience from Oxford University,has worked both in computational science and med tech, and has co-founded two startups before Conception X.

Anike Shontan, Amazon social media expert and Founder of NixGraphics and NixApparel

Anike Shontan is a self-taught, digital artist and accessory designer who has seen her businesses (NixGraphixx and NixApparel) evolve over the years from very rough ideas into established startups ranging from the fashion industry to the digital art space. Both businesses have seen major setbacks, goal pivots and launch successes over the years and are set to take on new and exciting challenges in 2024.

Victor Harabari, Founder and CEO of Cardiocrown

Victor Harabari is a Biomedical Engineer and Brunel University London graduate with a deep love for technology. Leading CardioCrown as its founder and CEO, Victor is committed to transforming stroke recovery with innovative solutions. Victor’s entrepreneurial path is fuelled by the conviction that through innovation, we can better lives and ease suffering. Each day is about merging technical expertise with empathy, all to create a meaningful difference in healthcare.

Chux Nwogu, Brunel Doctoral Researcher and Co-founder of MPiC

Chux Nwogu is currently completing his PhD at Brunel University London studying Computer Science, and previously graduated from Brunel with a MSc in Business Systems Integration (with SAP Technology) in 2014. Chux is currently working on launching an exciting start-up centring on an AI powered digital platform that will provide a higher-level project management tool ensuring an optimum course of action across projects.

After a very engaging panel discussion, our exhibition showcased some of Brunel’s recent graduate and current student start-ups with outstanding innovations. Attendees could interact with our start-ups to be inspired by their entrepreneurial journeys to date and get first hand advice.

Attendees could enter our Brunel Entrepreneurs 2024 Prize Draw by voting for their favourite start-up featured at the exhibition to be in with the chance of winning a share of £500, where we later announced 10 winners, all taking home £50 each.

The evening ended with food and drinks, an abundance of networking between like-minded Brunel budding entrepreneurs, recent graduates, staff and of course - our guest speakers. Music students Teo Ispir and Julio Cesar Lourenco Bianchi performed live music throughout with second year Brunel student Louis Hitchcock providing freelance photography capturing the atmosphere perfectly. Recent graduate Jeffrey Oyinlola, the founder of Pick Up The Mic also joined us to grab some super exciting content which will be shared soon.
