Brunel University of London has recently joined the UK-Malaysia University Consortium (UKMUC) — an exciting initiative strengthening collaboration between UK and Malaysian universities. As part of this partnership, we were given the opportunity to nominate a student to attend the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Programme in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
We are delighted to share that Donya Mansouri, a current undergraduate Medicine (MBBS) student and founder of Tilapia Revive, was selected to attend this fully funded, week-long programme, held from 18–22 August 2025 and hosted by Universiti Malaya.
The Sustainable Entrepreneurship Programme brings together 25 students from across the consortium to explore the foundations of entrepreneurship, focusing on how to ideate, create, and manage sustainable enterprises using problem-solving methodologies. Open to students from all disciplines, the programme promotes international collaboration and innovation in addressing global challenges.
Donya’s business, Tilapia Revive, is developing the Tilapia Face Mask (TFM)—an innovative, biocompatible burn treatment made from tilapia-infused face sheets. This sustainable solution aims to accelerate healing, reduce scarring, and minimise pain, offering an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to conventional burn care.
Reflecting on her experience, Donya shared: “To me, entrepreneurship isn’t just about business—it’s about understanding people, embracing diverse perspectives, and learning how collaboration across borders can lead to powerful solutions. I had the privilege of ending my summer in Malaysia as part of UKMUC, an experience that has truly reshaped how I view sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation. A huge thank you to the Brunel Entrepreneur Hub for their unwavering support throughout this journey. From workshops to international exposure, your guidance has been invaluable.”
Donya also highlighted how the programme gave her the opportunity to connect with global changemakers, exchange ideas on circular economy solutions and discover ways to translate new insights into real-world innovation—turning discarded resources into life-changing treatments.
A huge well done to Donya - we are incredibly proud of your achievements and can’t wait to see how you continue to innovate and inspire throughout your entrepreneurial journey!
