Research area(s)

My areas of research include the occurrence and fate of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) within wastewater systems, technology assessment from a sustainability lens, and strategies for addressing PFAS pollution that go beyond typical end-of-pipe solutions. Moreover, I am interested in the barriers to technology implementation, the trade-offs inherent in emerging contaminant management, and the translation of research into applicable knowledge that informs future solutions.

Research Interests

  • PFAS occurrence and fate in the urban water cycle
  • Novel wastewater treatment technologies
  • Upstream intervention strategies, moving beyond end-of-pipe treatment
  • Sustainable engineering
  • Circular economy
  • Water management policy and governance
