Summary

Dr Agwu is a Lecturer in Biosciences at Brunel Medical School (Brunel University London), where she leads the Reproduction, Growth and Ageing module and support medical students as a Team-Based Learning (TBL) facilitator, academic coach, and MMI assessor. She is passionate about inclusive, engaging education and committed to helping students develop the critical thinking and communication skills needed for success in healthcare and life sciences.

Her academic background spans reproductive science, developmental biology, and medical communication. She holds a Master's in Reproductive Science and Women’s Health from UCL and was awarded the prestigious President’s Doctoral Scholar Award to pursue a PhD in Developmental Biology and Medicine at the University of Manchester.

Alongside academia, she is a social entrepreneur and the founder of BioSci Toolkit CIC, a profit-for-purpose community interest company. They design and deliver outreach and enrichment programmes to widen access to bioscience education and careers—particularly among black, mixed and underserved communities. Responsibility

  • A Team Based Learning Facilitator in medical education, engaging Year 1 and Year 2 students
  • Track outcomes and progress of medical students during the medical programme, regularly receiving student feedback to improve teaching, assessment and overall student experience.
  • Academic Lead for Widening Participation, promoting access, retention and success of students. 
  • Serve as Module Lead for the Reproduction, Growth and Ageing module, integrating biosciences into the medical curriculum in alignment with learning objectives and evidence-based pedagogy.
  • Mentor students as an academic coach to enhance confidence, skills, and progression pathways within medicine.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and selection of new medical students as an admissions tutor, supporting a fair, transparent and inclusive admissions process.
