Research: Visceral narratives: Reporting on stories of trauma through contemporary performance

This PhD is a practice-led research that explores contemporary performance as a site of expression for people who’ve experienced trauma in their lives. In a close journalistic and artistic collaboration of victim and artist-journalist, it seeks to find modalities of staging psychological and emotional layers of the victim’s life through metaphoric and fictional languages, in order to connect the audience with the victim on somatic levels.

About: Originally from Mexico, Ellia has a BA Journalism & Literature (Texas, USA), MA in Intercultural Communication (Sheffield) and a PhD in Documentary Theatre and Contemporary Performance.
