Dr Emma Loveman
Honorary Senior Lecturer

Summary

Emma is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brunel University. Emma is involved in the production of Medical Technology Information Briefings for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as part of the Birmingham and Brunel Consortium External Assessment Centre (BBC EAC). Emma is also co-founder and partner of Effective Evidence LLP, an independent research consultancy specialising in evidence synthesis.

Emma has over 15 years’ experience of health technology assessment, having produced over 25 systematic reviews for the NIHR Heath Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme, the Cochrane Collaboration and the World Health Organisation. Emma is competent in the design, implementation, project management and reporting of evidence syntheses, including meta-analyses.  Recent peer review publications include systematic reviews of parent only interventions for weight loss in children, dietary fibre for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and treatments for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Emma was previously employed as a Senior Research Fellow at Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC), University of Southampton, where she was the lead of the team producing Technology Assessment Reports for NICE. Emma continues to hold a Visiting Fellow post at SHTAC.
