Mrs Marie Hennessey
Lecturer Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nurse)

Summary

Hi, my name is Marie, and I’m proud to be a new Lecturer in Nursing on the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) programme at Brunel University.

I am an adult-trained nurse and a qualified school nurse, with a career dedicated to 0–19 services. I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of diverse areas as a school nurse, including Hillingdon, Harrow, Westminster, and Kensington and Chelsea. One of the most meaningful roles in my career was serving as the Grenfell School Nurse, where I supported survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Following my time with the Grenfell team, I became the first person to take on the role of Transition Nurse. In this position, I supported children with complex health needs and care-experienced young people as they transitioned into adult services.

For the past two years, I have served as the Named Nurse for Children Looked After in Hillingdon. Throughout my career, I’ve had the honour of working with incredible families and dedicated professionals, and I’m truly proud to now be part of the Brunel family.

I look forward to learning alongside and nurturing the next generation of Specialist Community Public Health Nurses. It’s a truly rewarding and impactful career path, and I’m excited to help shape its future.
