Research: My work has led me to question the definition of opera. This question is at the centre of the proposed research, exploring the possibilities and potentials of the merging of opera, live art and choral performance. My aim is to develop new approaches and concepts for a multimedia choral piece merging live art and opera.
Roswitha has worked extensively and internationally as a set/costume designer in opera, theatre and dance. In 2001 she began to develop her own ideas and interests as an artist, writer and director.
Most recent she produced and directed a multi disciplined opera/theatre Stumbling over Infinity and ShadowPlays, exhibited her visual artwork Mistress of Time and, simultaneously, founded her own company of the same title.
At present Roswitha explores and extends her artistic practice studying at Brunel University with the aim to develop new approaches and concepts for a multimedia choral piece merging live art and opera. Initially based on “Death of Summer”, her studies will produce an original piece of performance practice, presenting an innovative fusion of disciplines.
