Summary

Sophie graduated in 2020 from her BSc in Biological Sciences with First-class honours from Imperial College London. She then pursued her interest in immunopharmacology, through completing a MSc in Biopharmaceutical Development in the University of Leeds and working in a leading global life sciences company developing immunotoxicology assays. Sophie has continued to investigate biopharmaceutical treatments capable of influencing innate immune cells as a PhD student in the Gavins lab, focussing on the resolution of inflammation after ischaemic stroke. She is achieving this with in vitro neutrophil functional assays and in vivo stroke models, tackling the lack of treatment options available for over 1.2 million individuals affected by stroke symptoms in the UK.
