Mr Stephen Middlehurst
College Services Manager

Summary

Professional Background

Stephen received a degree in Software Engineering from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 2000 and has been working in the IT sector ever since. Within two weeks of his final exam he had moved lock stock and barrel to London and begun working as an IT project manager for a field marketing company. Juggling a mix of software development, hardware support, project management and general troubleshooting he spent six years delivering IT systems for blue chip clients including EDF Energy, BSkyB, Camelot, Masterfoods and BT. In 2006 the business was purchased by a European-wide group and he was promoted to Process & Technology Manager (UK). In that role he engineered a complete overhaul of both systems and business processes to bring the UK business in line with the working practices of the group and realise substantial cost savings across the organisation. In the summer of 2008 the business was hit badly by the worsening economy and he took voluntary redundancy.

Personal Life

Outside Brunel Stephen is a keen amateur photographer and author influenced, respectively, by growing up surrounded by spectacular Welsh countryside and a love of science fiction fantasy. While only very small scale publication has resulted to date there are currently several promising projects on the horizon.

Recently he has started developing an interest in health and fitness and is currently making use of the Brunel sports centre facilities at a very early hour on a regular basis. Long term he hopes to enter and complete the London Marathon, something that\'s fast becoming a tradition in his family.
