Chief Social Worker for Adults visits Brunel

Lyn Romeo Brunel public lecture

The Division of Social Work was delighted to host Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for Adults, who visited Brunel on Monday 5 Dec.

The visit started with a meeting with lecturers from the division during which current challenges and opportunities of social work education were discussed and ideas were shared as to how can such educational programmes be enhanced and developed. The Chief Social Worker emphasised the importance she attributes to ensuring social work programmes can continue recruiting students from a wide enough range of backgrounds and that applicants especially from low socio-economic backgrounds are still able to join the profession.

Following this meeting, Ms Romeo delivered a lively presentation titled Social Work in the 21st Century in which she discussed the changes social work practice went through in recent years and the next group of major expected changes that Adults Social Work practitioners and educators must prepare themselves for.
