On Saturday 17 July, the Division of Social Work hosted the UK Malayali Social Workers Forum’s Annual Conference. The theme for this year’s event was Race, Racism and Social Work in Contemporary Britain.

The keynote address titled Race and Racism in Social Work: Conversations in Neo-Liberal Times was delivered by Professor Claudia Bernard who is a Professor of Social Work and Head of Postgraduate Research at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

The UK Malayali forum includes about 150 members who work in a wide range of social work services across the UK. During this event, possible directions for continued collaboration between the Social Work Division at Brunel and the Forum were discussed.
