BAE Systems Site Visit February 2017

BAE Systems visit Feb

On 22 February the Mentoring Manager and 17 mentees set off for a site visit at BAE Systems, New Malden  The Head of Engineering Performance, Felicity Fashade offered the mentees a bespoke event to enable them to find out more about BAE services, their products, their Combat Management Systems and to talk to management and recent graduates.

The presentations were kicked off by two higher level apprentices talking about what they had learnt already in just a few months. We were very lucky to have some excellent presenters throughout the day giving us a real insight into systems engineering and product security.

A tour of the laboratories led by a very enthusiastic engineer was then provided. It helped us to understand just what was required to deliver the combat systems needed for the Royal Navy’s Type 23, Type 26 and Type 45 platforms.

The students said:

@BrunelWiBEC @Bruneluni Thank you for making it happen! It was an invaluable & fascinating experience. SI & CMS presentations were my fave!

A great chance to meet the employees and learn from their experiences.  We were able to get an inside view and witness their enthusiasm for working for BAE”

“Makes one realise which “field of engineering” I want to work on and plan for the future career”

“Surprisingly doesn’t matter which course we’re graduating from, as long as there is passion, then you can make things work”

“Very friendly staff”
