We offered mentees the chance to upskill themselves in a bespoke workshop the night before the Speed Networking with Alumni event. The workshop built the students’ confidence and they found out exactly what networking is and how to do it effectively. By the end of the session they had practised their own “elevator pitch”. The following evening 10 alumni came to network with the mentees.

Coming on campus brought back all sorts of memories, from rushing to get to 9 am lectures to the dreaded hand–ins! They also reflected on the fun and the friends they made whilst here at Brunel. It was so exciting to hear where our alumni were working and what they were doing in their chosen industry sector. Every mentee was able to speak to each of the panel during the evening which was punctuated by whistle blows every 8 minutes to get the panel moving around.
The students’ confidence soared as they practised their networking in a safe environment.
