Dr Asress Adimi Gikay: Should UK Police continue to use facial recognition, BBC, October 2023.

"I think whether technology should be banned, should be out of the question. I don't think there's strong evidence to ban a technology which has shown to have significant benefits in terms of enhancing public safety and effective investigations of crimes" - says Dr Asress Adimi Gikay. "In the UK police have been to some extent successful in arresting people who have been suspected of violent crimes using facial recognition" - he adds. Watch the BBC discussion on whether facial recognition usage is a privacy violation, and whether it should be banned.
