Brunel Academy for the Transformation of Teaching reading group:

Building Critical Pedagogies: Decolonising, Decentring and Repairing

Spring term 2020

Following on from the summer reading group on classical and contemporary critical pedagogies, we would like to invite all staff and students to attend the Academy spring term reading group Rebuilding Critical Pedagogies: Decolonising, Decentring and Repairing.

Inspired by Royona Mitra’s intervention at the Repairing Our Curriculum roundtable discussion hosted by the Academy on 2 December 2019, and with the aim to continue this conversation, the reading group will bring together 1) debates on the epistemological and institutional privilege rooted in unequal relations of power across race, gender, sexuality, class and disability and 2) reflections on how to unravel and repair these relations.

The reading group is one of the spaces provided by the Academy to encourage intellectual exchange and transform our teaching practices to contribute to social justice.

The reading group will begin at the end of January at 5.30pm at Lancaster bar, Brunel University London.
