Design Factory Global Network

In February, 2020, Brunel University London joined Design Factory Global Network (DFGN), as the first higher education institution in the UK to obtain the network membership. DFGN is a worldwide association of 31 design-led innovation hubs at universities and research organisations across Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. The participation of Brunel in the network is coordinated by Brunel Design School and the innovation hub at the campus in Uxbridge - dubbed Design Factory London - will be established in the Wilfred Brown building.

Headed by Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland, with the members including CERN, University of São Paulo, Kyoto Design Lab and Swinburne University, DFGN promotes design thinking and interdisciplinary project-based learning through international student-led collaborative projects with major companies. The membership in DFGN enables Brunel Design School students and beyond to work on live project briefs with their peers and industry at a global scale, thus greatly contributing to student experience, while the UK-based companies have the opportunity to collaborate not only with Brunel, but with an international community having an established track-record of fostering the culture of radical innovation.
