Centre for Flood Risk and Resilience

The Centre’s ambition is to develop learning that delivers resilience awareness, understanding and partnership working across the professional (private and public) sector and civil society with clear indicators for increasing flood safety measures and capability. The Centre has been established through Catalyst funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

Working with partners – the Environment Agency, HR Wallingford, Jacobs and CIWEM - Brunel University London has created the Centre for Flood Risk and Resilience which aims to generate skills and knowledge in key stakeholders of flood risk and resilience, and thereby support the UK Government's Industrial Strategy.

This Centre will establish the University as a vital pipeline of skills and capability in tackling global flood risk and resilience challenges, driving economic growth and productivity for the South East and the wider UK. The Flood and Coastal Engineering Degree (FaCE) has been the first product of this collaboration, and this project will act as a catalyst for the Centre, building on the existing relationships and investment of £3m.
