Family Business Summer School

Are you preparing to lead or work within a family-owned enterprise? Our Family Business programme provides academic insight with real-world experiences, focusing on leadership, innovation, sustainability and intergenerational management in family businesses.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from students who meet the following entry criteria: 

  • Completed at least one year of study at a university, college or higher education institution.
  • Statement of purpose (approx. 300 words). 
  • If English isn't your first language, you'll need to provide evidence that you have a good understanding of English (i.e. a reference letter provided by your home university).

Summer school dates

The summer school will run from the 19th July - 1st August 2026.

    • Arrival & Accommodation Check In - Sunday 19th July 2026.
    • First Day of Class - Monday 20th July 2026.
    • Departure & Accommodation Check Out - Saturday 1st August 2026.

Fees and costs

The fees for the Family Business Summer School 2026 are £2,899. The fee will include airport pick-up and drop-off (Heathrow Airport), tuition, workshops, cultural immersion trips, on-campus accommodation, and most meals.

  • A 10% discount is available to students from partner institutions, and Brunel alumni.

Refunds will be made on request to students who have been refused a student visa.  When requesting a refund, evidence of the visa refusal must be submitted. A minimum fee of £300 will be charged for administration fee.

Refunds will also be considered under the following circumstances:

  1. If the university withdraws a course.
  2. If you do not meet the conditions of your offer and your application is rejected.
  3. In exceptional circumstances and on receipt of verifiable documentary evidence that you are unable to commence your studies and choose not to defer your offer we may be able to refund a proportion of the fees paid. Such exceptional circumstances include serious illness, natural disaster or conflict that may lead to international restrictions on travel.

There will be no refund if requested 14 days prior of the programme start date.

What is the Family Business Summer School?

Brunel's Family Business Summer School is an immersive two-week programme hosted by Brunel University of London and in partnership with Family Business United (FBU). Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students in a  preparing to lead or work within family-owned enterprises, this programme blends academic insight with real-world experiences to explore leadership, innovation, sustainability, and intergenerational management in family businesses.
