Today’s item is an account of the Stockwell College Christmas Party on 15th December 1941, from the College Day Book. It is a shame we do not have photographs to accompany this entry, the description of the winning vegetable inspired head-dress would be a sight to see! Taking place during WW2, it is lovely to read about the fun the staff and students managed t have. Although the College was originally located at Stockwell in SW London, as the name suggests, it moved to larger premises in Bromley, Kent in 1935. During the war, however, it was evacuated to Watcombe Park nr Torbay in Devon. It returned to Bromley in 1945, to find that the site had been devastated by the war and needed much reconstruction over the decade to follow.
