Biography

Lance Corporal A. T. Turner was born in Canning Town, to Harry and Fanny Turner. He attended Borough Road College for two years, showing an aptitude for music and mathematics. He has no listed destination upon leaving college, so probably went straight into the armed forces. Turner enlisted into the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and was wounded in 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery and had been recommended for a commission. Turner died from his wounds on 27 August 1917 aged 24.
