Biography

Lance Corporal Charles Leonard Ovens was the son of Charles Leonard and Elizabeth Ann Ovens. He attended Borough Road College for two years, competing for the college in rugby and rowing, even representing the college at an intercollege varsity in 1910. He enlisted in the 2nd Battalion Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry on 1 September 1914. Lance Corporal Ovens died aged 25 on the 25 September 1915.
